Málaga’s up-and-coming sailors are making great strides at the Real Club El Candado
The Optimist advanced training team at the Real Club El Candado in Málaga continues its training on the Mediterranean, where the young sailors are honing their technique, developing their independence and nurturing their passion for sailing.
Every time they take to the sea presents a new opportunity to learn. The young members of the Real Club El Candado’s Optimist advanced training team continue to gain experience aboard their small boats, working on fundamental aspects of sailing such as sail trimming, manoeuvres, balance and reading the wind.
The Optimist class is one of the main gateways to competitive sailing. Beyond competition, it teaches young sailors to make decisions, overcome challenges and develop values such as camaraderie, perseverance and respect for the sea.
A sailing club with a long-standing tradition
The Real Club El Candado has a sailing school offering beginner and advanced training, as well as regatta teams in various disciplines. Under the technical guidance of Pablo Iribarne, its sailing programme includes training in Optimist, ILCA and other classes.
Here at StraitMagazine, we’re sharing these images of the Optimist advanced training team, showcasing the enthusiasm of these young sailors and the training work being carried out by the clubs along our coastline.
Because even the greatest sailors started out with a small sail and a great desire to learn.
