From the Strait of Gibraltar to Saint-Tropez. Quique Díaz, the sailor from La Línea, is back competing on one of the major stages of international sailing, this time aboard the Meerblick, the Cape 31 owned by Otto Pohlmann, at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2026.
Having cut his teeth on the waters of the Strait and at the Real Club Náutico de La Línea, Díaz continues to gain experience on some of the major international regatta circuits. Among these, his participation in the legendary Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race stands out – one of the world’s most demanding ocean races, which he completed in 2024 aboard the Xanthus.
From the Strait to the world’s major regattas
Now the setting shifts from Australia to the Côte d’Azur. Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, taking place from 26 September to 4 October, brings together more than 250 boats, including modern yachts, maxis and some of the world’s most spectacular classic sailing vessels.
Quique Díaz is taking on this new international event aboard the Meerblick, a fast Cape 31, with which he is once again flying the flag for La Línea and the Strait at one of the Mediterranean’s major sailing weeks.
From La Línea to Sydney. From Sydney to Saint-Tropez. Quique Díaz continues to make his mark on the international sailing scene, taking the name of the Strait of Gibraltar with him to some of the sport’s biggest stages.
