Windsurfing in the Campo de Gibraltar has once again excelled in a national competition. Ricardo Jiménez Zalacain and Félix Pérez Moreno, both representing the Real Club Náutico de La Línea, secured second and third place, respectively, in the Lightweight Windsurfing category at the 27th Surfari Mar Menor 2026, held in the waters off Los Alcázares, Murcia.
The competition brought together specialists from various Spanish clubs and also produced outstanding results for the Andalusian contingent, particularly in the Techno youth categories, with the Club Náutico Puerto Sherry taking centre stage.
Ricardo Jiménez falls one point short of victory
Ricardo Jiménez Zalacain, a sailor from La Línea, came very close to securing another victory at the Surfari Mar Menor. After seven races, he finished second with 9 net points, just one point behind the winner, Isidro Henríquez, from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria.
Jiménez put in a consistently strong performance, with three race wins, two second places and a fourth-place finish that was discarded from the final standings.
The representative of the Real Club Náutico de La Línea came into this year’s event having won the 2025 Mar Menor Surfari and the 2026 Spanish Windsurfing Cup, as well as finishing as national runner-up and winning the III Vuelta al Mar Menor.
Félix Pérez Moreno completes the double podium for La Línea
The other standout performer for the Campo de Gibraltar region was Félix Pérez Moreno, also from the Real Club Náutico de La Línea, who secured third place in the Lightweight Windsurfing class.
Aboard the ESP 124, Sakura, Félix scored 18 net points and displayed remarkable consistency throughout the competition, finishing third in six of the seven races contested.
With Ricardo Jiménez in second place and Félix Pérez Moreno in third, the Real Club Náutico de La Línea managed to place two of its representatives on the podium at one of the traditional events on the national windsurfing calendar.
Puerto Sherry clinches the title in the Techno Under-15s
The young talent from Cádiz also played a prominent role at the Surfari Mar Menor, particularly thanks to the results achieved by the representatives of the Club Náutico Puerto Sherry.
In the Techno Under-15 category, Pablo Quintero Torres was crowned winner with 8 net points, after breaking the deadlock in his favour against Alejandro Cuesta Rodríguez of the Club Nàutic El Balís.
Quintero secured three race wins in the six races contested and sealed his victory in a particularly tight competition.
His club-mate Juan Meléndez García completed the podium in third place with 13 net points, having secured one stage victory and several top-placed finishes.
More representatives from Cádiz in the Techno Under-17 and Under-13 categories
Club Náutico Puerto Sherry was also represented in other categories of the Techno class.
In the Under-17s, Isabella Lobatón Ten Eyck finished fifth in the overall standings with 24 net points, whilst Natalia Rosso Duro finished seventh with 25 points.
Meanwhile, Javier Marante Holub secured fourth place in the overall Techno Under-13 standings, with 18 net points.
These results rounded off the performance of the Puerto Sherry club’s youth squad in a competition that brought together young windsurfers from different autonomous communities.
Holger Klauke, fourth in the Windsurfer Medios category
Representatives from the Costa del Sol also featured among the top positions in the standings.
Holger Klauke, from the Fuengirola Yacht Club, finished fourth in the Windsurfer Medios class with 18 net points after seven races.
The sailor secured one race win and several top-four finishes, remaining in contention for the leading positions throughout the championship.
Windsurfing on the Andalusian coast takes centre stage at the Mar Menor
The 27th Mar Menor Surfari once again brought together sailors from different generations and categories, ranging from the Techno youth classes to the Windsurfer fleet.
The double podium finish by Ricardo Jiménez and Félix Pérez Moreno for the Real Club Náutico de La Línea, Pablo Quintero’s victory and Juan Meléndez’s third place for Puerto Sherry, together with the results achieved by Isabella Lobatón, Natalia Rosso, Javier Marante and Holger Klauke, make for an outstanding showing by the clubs from the Andalusian coast.
This participation reflects the presence of windsurfers from the Campo de Gibraltar, the Bay of Cádiz and the Costa del Sol in national competitions held beyond their usual waters.
