El Campeonato del Mundo de J/80, que se disputa en Kingston (Canadá), ya ha completado sus dos primeras pruebas y el equipo Pretty Sailing, del Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club, ocupa la 20ª posición de la clasificación general y la 12ª plaza en la categoría Corinthian.
La tripulación formada por Amy Pretty, George Montgomery Spindler, James Oliver Turner y Lewis Edward Agate, representante del Estrecho de Gibraltar, firmó unos parciales de 21º y 18º, sumando 39 puntos en la clasificación absoluta.
En la clasificación reservada a los equipos Corinthian, el Pretty Sailing marcha 12º, con parciales de 13º y 10º y un total de 23 puntos.
Los líderes tras las dos primeras mangas
En la clasificación general domina el estadounidense James Buley, al frente del Le Tigre, con solo 3 puntos, después de conseguir un primero y un segundo puesto.
La segunda posición es para el canadiense Warren Flannery, patrón del FEISTY, con 5 puntos, mientras que Daniel Wittig, a bordo del Turbo Sloth, completa provisionalmente el podio con 6 puntos.

El segundo puesto lo ocupa Graham Philpot, con el Black Dog y 8 puntos, mientras que Brian Gibbs, patrón del BlindFaith, es tercero con 10 puntos.

Una primera jornada marcada por un viento muy cambiante
Las gráficas registradas durante las dos mangas muestran unas condiciones especialmente variables, con importantes oscilaciones tanto en la intensidad como en la dirección del viento.
Durante la primera prueba, la intensidad se mantuvo mayoritariamente entre los 20 y los 24 nudos, aunque los numerosos cambios de dirección obligaron a las tripulaciones a realizar continuos ajustes tácticos.
En la segunda manga, el viento llegó a descender hasta aproximadamente los 17 o 18 nudos antes de volver a reforzarse. Los constantes roles añadieron dificultad a la jornada y convirtieron la elección del bordo y la lectura del campo de regatas en factores decisivos.
El Comité de Regatas prevé disputar cuatro pruebas
El Comité de Regatas ha comunicado su intención de celebrar cuatro mangas durante la jornada del jueves 23 de julio, siempre que las condiciones meteorológicas lo permitan.
La celebración de estas cuatro pruebas podría provocar importantes cambios en una clasificación que todavía se encuentra en sus primeras etapas.
Para el Pretty Sailing, la próxima jornada supone una nueva oportunidad para mejorar sus parciales y escalar posiciones tanto en la clasificación general como en la categoría Corinthian de un Mundial que no ha hecho más que comenzar.

The J/80 World Championship, currently being held in Kingston, Canada, has completed its first two races, with Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club team Pretty Sailing sitting 20th overall and 12th in the Corinthian division.
The crew of Amy Pretty, George Montgomery Spindler, James Oliver Turner and Lewis Edward Agate, representing the Strait of Gibraltar, recorded finishes of 21st and 18th to accumulate 39 points in the overall standings.
In the Corinthian classification, Pretty Sailing is currently 12th, following finishes of 13th and 10th for a total of 23 points.
The leaders after the opening two races
American sailor James Buley leads the overall standings aboard Le Tigre with just three points, following a first and a second-place finish.
Canadian skipper Warren Flannery is second aboard FEISTY with five points, while Daniel Wittig and Turbo Sloth provisionally complete the podium with six points.

A challenging opening day marked by highly variable winds
The data recorded during the two races showed particularly variable conditions, with significant fluctuations in both wind strength and direction.
During the opening race, the wind remained mostly between 20 and 24 knots, although the numerous shifts forced the crews to make constant tactical adjustments.
In the second race, the breeze dropped to approximately 17 or 18 knots before strengthening again. The continuous shifts added another layer of difficulty, making the choice of side and the ability to read the racecourse decisive factors.
Race Committee aims to hold four races
The Race Committee has announced its intention to hold four races on Thursday, 23 July, weather conditions permitting.
The completion of four races could lead to significant changes in a classification that is still in its early stages.
For Pretty Sailing, the next day of racing will offer another opportunity to improve its individual results and climb the standings, both overall and in the Corinthian division, at a World Championship that has only just begun.
